Octuplets!!

Have you heard the latest on the woman in California who had octuplets. I for one am not for in vitro, well, because it doesn't work with God's plan. But aside from that, this woman had 8 embryos, EIGHT, implanted into her uterus at one time. She already had 6 children (3 sets of twins).

So the question now is: Should there be regulations on how many eggs a woman is allowed to have implanted when she is searching for fertility treatments?

I for one definitely think there should be. I want to reinforce that I do not think it should happen at all, but if it does, I think this case should make the case for some sort of regulation. How is a single mother of 14 going to be able to take care of all of these children? I know it takes a village to raise a child, but is it fair to force children on people when God didn't plan it that way? This woman obviously is not meant to have children, otherwise God would have Blessed her.

It's not fair to the other children that she already has to bring in 8 more. I don't think the doctor made the right choice, and neither did this mother. I definitely think there needs to be some regulation on the number of embryos implanted. Aside from the moral aspect of this, there has to be some sort of medical risks involved with a woman pregnant with this many children!!

  1. ok, I'm so glad your discussing this. Another point that is really upsetting.. she is not married... she lives with her parents in a 3 bedroom home and is going to school but no mention of a job??? Something is wrong with this entire picture. I think social services better watch this woman closely.. her mom has said that the moment the daughter comes home from the hospital she is outta their and not helping her.. so who is going to help her? This situation could turn dangerous for all the children with one mom trying to take care of all those children.. why was she allowed to have 8 embryos implanted? Her records should have indicated she had six other kids... the doctor who allowed this should have his license pulled. I see disaster written all over this and the ones I see disaster for are the 14 kids... it makes me so sad.

  2. I agree with you. There really needs to be something in place here and this case should set a precedent. You really shouldn't mess around with the children's futures like this. I didn't think she had a job either, but apparently she works at a... ready... fertility clinic! That's what I saw on the news today. I didn't hear about the mom saying that she was going to leave her. That's just really horrible.

  3. I heard a Dr.on the news say that only four embryos are ethical at a time to implant. Our Catholic church says's that in vitro is against church teaching because of several reasons actually , but the one that stands out for me is because of the embryos left behind in the freezer for years. Decades, Centuries??? And the ones that didn't implant just die, and also some are just thrown into the trash, and don't forget the ones that you give away to other people for twisted science experiments, also the ones that you can give to strangers, because they can't conceive. It's twisted.
I gave birth to twins, and I had so many complications. I would never inflict this upon anyone. It was emotionally painful. One of my children barely survived, and is learning disabled. But I am a hard core pro- lifer, I would die before I abort. I am serious.
Lastly I believe that we should let God Be God, and make these painful decisions. Some women are childless for a reason, and I do not in ANY way presume to know the answer to that. I dont want to play God , it's too much pressure.
I think about my girlfriend that did this ,and she had three babies at once. It was a nightmare. She had one that had downs , so you know , no on else will want her extra embryos. She wont want them either, but she is paying to store them . What will she do?

  4. i defiantly see something wrong with this but as for women who cant have a child naturally i think it should be ok with the church there is nothing unholy in my opinion as long as the child is raised with love and with god.
